The Number Five

This post is only to celebrate the date.  And give a small shout-out to one of (make that two of)the greatest television series of all time.

West Beverly has a piece of my heart.

Here are 5 things, in no particular order, that I would like to share tonight.

1. I miss Conan.  Leno is not my cup o’ tea.

2. I extremely dislike the taste of hyrdorgen peroxide.  Crest White strips are no exception.

3. I was on the news today.  I haven’t seen the story yet, but I’ve had 20+ people text and/or email me saying they did.  They were doing a story in my favorite doughnut shop, and I happened to show up during the taping.

4. I love using those blue drop-in tablets in my toilets.  Word to the wise: don’t touch the blue tablet with your bare hands.

5. I am officially addicted to “Las Vegas Jailhouse.”  It’s worth your time.

About a month ago Hermana Kjones and I visited a local Maverick and noticed an odd new drinking straw by the cash register.  The box was covered with horrible graphics and visually screamed “The Chiller!”  Curious as to their use, we asked the cashier.  She assured us they were “awesome.”  We laughed, and left.  Why would we buy a $1 aluminum straw, when the free ones work just fine?

Cut to this weekend when Miss Reale and I decided to throw down the money and make the purchase and HOLY CRAP!!! The Chiller! has blown my mind!

It’s amazing.  Honestly.  It’s worth 100 of anyones pennies.  Why?  You need to know why?  I’ll tell you why.  It keeps your drink cold, all the way to your lips.  I bet you didn’t even know you wanted that to happen…right?  Dudes, I’ve been drinking Diet Coke for years and I had no idea it could get better.

Well my friends, it did.  The game has changed. Completely. I’d exhort you to try it for yourselves.

Yesterday somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 PM I got a very simple text, from one of the world’s best humans.

Kate: I just saw Britney Spears!

Me: Yeah!

Kate: She looked awful.

About five seconds later my phone rang.

This folks, is one of the 1000+ reasons Kate and I will be friends for ever.  And probably after that too.

My lovely friend Miss Danielle Marriott had a show in tonight’s gallery stroll. Her work is awesome, and I couldn’t be more proud. If you’re in town, check it out at the Stolen & Escaped gallery below Frosting Darling. It should be up for at least the next three weeks.  It’s not a waste of time.

I am a person that needs a solid night’s sleep. Yet I am typing this at 12:54 AM on a school night….

Something needs to change.

I’ve decided I want to try as many glass-bottled root beer’s as I can find. I’ve been picking them up as I see them, and will be sharing my thoughts with you here. Why? I have no idea…other than drinking glass-bottled soda’s makes me happy. And I have a fridge full of them to prove it.

Today’s test: Maine Root Root Beer.

The whole shtick behind this brew is that it’s organically sweetened and environmentally friendly. No chemicals, or artificial sweeteners. Just bold, simple, root beer. The marketing gimmicks convinced me to give it a try….but I’m not convinced. It tastes good at first, but has one funky aftertaste. I think they spent a little too much time on making sure they used good stuff to make it, rather than making it be good stuff. Know what I mean?

My co-worker gave me this mug today that he picked up on a recent work trip.*

That’s all I have to say about that.

* Allegedly. I think there may be a much bigger story behind it than that…I’m trying to get to the bottom of it. I’ll keep y’all posted. In the mean time, just know my diet coke is being held in style.

In the good tradition of honoring the lovely number five, I would like to wish you all a very happy 5-5 day. It’s a shame we only get one a year.

I sat still this weekend (mostly), and enjoyed a little down time. It is no surprise though, that I booked 14 hours of today down to the last minute. So, there’s that.
